Pumpkin jam mixed with extra Nuts.Jazarieh is a derivative of the word Jazar (Carrots) although the recipe does not contain any carrot. It was mainly named as such because of its color.

The term “jazarieh” comes from “jazar” or carrots in Arabic due to the resemblance with the carrot slices preserve because of the orange color. However, pumpkin preserves are crunchier. “Jazarieh” is served as a dessert or snack with walnuts or blanched almonds.

Preparation time: 2 hours + 12 hours for soaking the pumpkin

Preparation method:

  1. Soak the pumpkin strips for 12h in the limestone solution
  2. Wash thoroughly with clean cold water
  3. Add grated pumpkin to the syrup and boil without stirring until the syrup is totally absorbed by the pumpkin
